All children should have their feet assessed by a Chiropodist at 7-8 years of age, particularly with a family history of foot problems. This can identify and control foot problems that may arise throughout their life. Our environment is family friendly and we will patiently and thoroughly provide the best care for your child.

Addressing biomechanical issues such as flat feet, high arches and foot pain at a young age can prevent most of the common adult foot deformities such as bunions, hammer toes, plantar fasciitis, corns and calluses, heel spurs and arthritis.

Common foot health issues in children include:

Warts are viral infections appearing as painful lesions resembling corns, often raised and containing small black dots. Due to their infectious nature they should be treated by a Chiropodist.
Usually the big toes are affected and appear as a red, swollen, occasionally weeping or bleeding at the side of the nail. The nail has pierced through the skin allowing bacteria to invade causing infection. Ingrown nails should be treated immediately by a Chiropodist.
A fungal infection on the bottom of the feet and in between the nails. The foot often appears red, itchy and contains dark brown/red lesions. This is an infectious condition that should be addressed by a Chiropodist.
