Toronto Foot Care

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A chiropodist (foot specialist) is a primary healthcare provider focused on the assessment, prevention, and management of foot and lower limb disorders, including both acute and chronic conditions. Chiropodists are regulated health professionals offering a range of medical services, from nail and skin care to orthotics and in-office surgeries.

Chiropodists are licensed to prescribe oral and topical medications, administer corticosteroid and local anesthetic injections, prescribe and dispense custom foot orthotics and dispense all medical equipment related to the ankle and foot.

In Ontario, both chiropodists and podiatrists are recognized and regulated foot specialists. Chiropodists receive their education and training in Ontario, while podiatrists are trained outside of Canada.

Since 1993, no new members in Ontario are permitted to register or call themselves as podiatrists.

No medical or doctor referral is needed, as chiropodists are primary healthcare providers. If you or someone you know needs help with foot concerns, you are welcome to book an appointment directly with us.
