FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A chiropodist (foot specialist) is a primary health care provider that focuses on the assessment, prevention, and management of the foot and lower limb disorders from acute or chronic conditions. Chiropodists are regulated health professionals who provide various medical services ranging from nail and skin care to orthotics and in-office surgeries.

Chiropodists are licensed to provide oral and topical prescriptions, corticosteroid and local anesthetic injections, and to dispense all medical equipment related to the ankle and foot.

Chiropodists and podiatrists are both the only recognized and regulated foot specialists in Ontario. Chiropodists are educated and trained in Ontario while podiatrists are educated and trained outside of Canada. After 1993, no member in Ontario is allowed to call themselves or register as a podiatrist.

No medical or doctor referral is needed as chiropodists are primary health care providers. If you know anyone that requires help with their foot concerns, they are welcome to book an appointment with us.

Appointments are highly recommended so that our chiropodist can give you their undivided attention and care.

There are a few options to book an appointment:

    1. You can give us a call at (416) 444-3668
    2. You can book your appointment online here or click “online booking” at the top of the page. This is by far the favourite way most patients love because they can do it whenever.
    3. Email us at info@torontofootcare.com

If you are dealing with an emergency, we will do our best to accommodate you as quickly as possible.

Our services are not covered under OHIP. All extended healthcare plans and the level of coverage provided varies by employer. We strongly recommend contacting your insurance provider or speak to your HR department about your coverage and eligibility for chiropody services. If you require assistance in determining your coverage, we would be happy to help you.

Your first appointment consists of completing a medical intake form and a thorough physical examination of your legs and feet. An appropriate treatment plan will be discussed and treatment may be provided on the same day.

Please bring a list of your current medications and the most common footwear you use. If you have more than one pair, please bring them in to your appointment.

Please also remove all nail polish, Shellac, Acrylics, or nail extensions PRIOR to your appointment.

Interac flash (contactless) and Debit, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Android Pay. You can also send us an e-Transfer to info@torontofootcare.com. We also direct bill to some insurance companies.

Please remember that your appointment time is reserved especially for you. In order that appointments remain available to all patients, cancel your appointment before 24 hours of the scheduled time through your account online or contact the clinic at 416-444-3668 or e-mail info@torontofootcare.com.

Please note: You will be charged the full amount for the appointment that you missed in the event of not showing up without 24 hours of notice.

During that time, if the appointment was canceled before 24 hours, we have a waiting list of patients to who we can offer the appointment to. If you do not show up, that means, we had been waiting for you, giving you time to get to us and there would not be a way we can offer it to another patient, as it takes time for them to get to us…

Thank you in advance for your co-operation.

If you are uncertain, please call your insurance company for your chiropody coverage details.
